annecy.

… so for our second christmas in europe we were invited by our dear friends caroline & bob to celebrate and await papa noel in their gorgeous place in the french alps. it felt like a bit of a dream, to be honest. we had been contemplating hopping on a plane to find some sun and sand, but when offered the choice between beach and snow my little chicklets opted for la neige sans hesitation (that’s “snow” for those of you who didn’t minor in french, comme moi *wink*). on y va a les alpes francais!

we stopped for a night at lake annecy on our way … the city of annecy is coined the “venice of france,” as it’s built upon these darling little canals. in spite of the horrible weather our first day (o the weather outside is frightful, indeed!) we were still able to do some exploring. cheese, wine, cheese, wine … and so it goes. c’est partfait.

the sun greeted us the next morning, so we actually got to glimpse the alps beyond the lake on our way out of town. we also stumbled upon the most gorgeous lake-side church that caused me to screech, stop! go back! to monsieur maxey, who graciously obliged. i jumped out of the car to snap a few photos, and also took a moment to pause and drink it all in. another one of those, “i just can’t believe it” moments to add to our list. how did we get here? living this life, seeing these things, having these experiences. so very grateful. blessed.
