a tiny little kitchen in germany

you may recall a particularly stressful day back in august that involved a half-installed ikea kitchen and a rather large piece of apple cake. you can read about it here, or to quickly recap: crumbly plaster + hollow walls = no hanging cabinets in our kitchen. returning those 15+ boxes back to ikea funded a long weekend in paris (c’est fantastique!) and also created a fun design challenge for moi … what to do with those empty walls?!

here’s a few pics of the (almost) finished kitchen. it’s a quirky little european “kuche” – washing machine next to the oven, verrrry limited counter space, only enough room for a tiny little 2-person table. but we love it. it’s so crazy looking back at the pictures from when we first moved in – the cold, empty room that’s now an actual kitchen. i’m still trying to figure out how to convert celsius to fahrenheit and which german flour to use for baking (405? 550?), but for now we’re just enjoying this sweet, small space. and eating lots of sandwiches.
