spicy tuna & yellow straws

had an unfortunate encounter with spicy tuna last night. as such, i stayed home for the day and have made a little nest in our bedroom with my laptop, endless glasses of water and a little bitty.

i caught up on email and work for a while, but then just let myself rest for a portion of the afternoon. while drifting off to sleep i read through a few different blogs that i love, and was reminded again at how much hard stuff people are dealing with. health stuff, love stuff, family stuff. it’s a lot, and enough to make you want to crawl into your own little nest and escape from it all. but i’m also so encouraged at seeing how much good there is. how much courage and support and grace and hope. it’s all of this that gives us the strength to climb out of the nest and give it another go. it’s all of this that reminds us that god is still near.

it’s also this.

this little chicklet spent most of the day cuddled up with me. we rarely get time together just the two of us, so in spite of the spicy-tuna-induced lockdown, i was feeling ohsograteful for this day of quiet and rest and reflection.

after naptime i was serenaded … tracy chapman’s “talkin about a revolution” on repeat, sung by the bitty. amaze-balls.

finally the tables are starting to turn … talking about a revolution.

and then piper lane came home from school, and got me a big glass of cranberry juice & sparkling water. the perfect anti-tuna-belly cocktail. she even brought a yellow straw, because mom it’s your favorite color! doesn’t it look pretty? it sure does. it brightens everything up.

hope you’ve had a touch (or more!) of yellow in your day. missing you from germany. xo.
